Chase sells checks through its Deluxe marketplace rather than printing them in-house — Deluxe also handles fulfillment for several other large national banks, so the paper, microprinting, and security screen on a Chase check follow the same industry-standard specification used across most of the country. JPMorgan Chase is the largest bank in the U.S. by assets, which is part of why a correctly formatted Chase check clears through any other bank's sorting equipment without issue: the MICR field order and font are set by a shared ANSI/ABA standard, not something Chase controls independently.

Chase's Routing Number: Wire Transfers vs. Checks

021000021 is Chase's routing number for domestic wire transfers, and that one doesn't change based on your state. For checks, direct deposit, and other ACH transactions, though, Chase assigns a different routing number depending on the state where your account was originally opened — not where you live now. That distinction trips people up: the number that clears a wire isn't necessarily the number printed on your checks.

The reliable way to confirm your specific number is to look at the bottom-left of an existing Chase check, check your account details in Chase online banking or the mobile app, or call Chase directly. Treat any number you find in a general list — including the one pre-filled in this template — as a starting point to verify, not a final answer, before you print anything you intend to deposit or hand over as payment.

Business vs. Personal Chase Checks

Personal Chase checking accounts — Chase Total Checking (around $15/month, waivable with qualifying activity), Chase Premier Plus Checking, and Chase Sapphire Checking (which waives out-of-network ATM and outgoing wire fees) — all draw from the same routing-number pool and use the same check layout described above. Chase Secure Banking is the exception: at roughly $4.95/month, it's a checkless account by design, so Chase doesn't issue paper checks for it at all, though it still includes free money orders and cashier's checks as a substitute.

Chase's business accounts — Business Complete Checking (around $15/month, up to 20 free transactions), Performance Business Checking (around $30/month, up to 250 free transactions), and Platinum Business Checking (up to 500 free transactions) — draw on the same routing-number pool as personal accounts (business check format specifics are covered in our layout guide above). If you're using this template for a business check, use the account number tied to your EIN-registered business account rather than a personal account number, and set the payee line to match what your bookkeeping expects (vendor legal name, not a shorthand).

Ordering Checks from Chase

Deluxe operates a dedicated Chase-branded ordering marketplace — reachable from Chase online banking, the Chase mobile app, or directly through Deluxe — since Chase itself doesn't run a print operation. Chase doesn't publish a flat price list; the cost depends on the design, quantity, and any personalization you choose, and is shown before you complete the order. Standard shipping typically runs somewhere around a week to ten days; faster paid shipping is available if you need checks sooner.

If you can't wait for a mailed order at all, a Chase branch can print temporary counter checks on the spot, drawn against your account, generally for a small per-page fee — Total Checking customers have historically paid around $3 per page for this, though branches can set their own pricing, so confirm the current cost locally. Counter checks are meant to bridge a gap until your mailed order arrives, not to replace it.
